Electro dragons slide right into what I consider trash tier defense troops. The main strength and e-drag has is its massive, arcing damage, but that is completely negated by all of its weaknesses on defense. A single poison spell can slow it's attack speed to a sickening rate of one attack per 5 seconds.Oct 29, 2018

Baby Drag, 2 Witches, and a Bowler : Baby drags incur good damages on air as well as ground troops. Witches can damage both air as well as ground troops. Though they are slow, they have the ability to summon an army of skeletons which give good damage to ground troops. Bowlers can help with defending ground troops.
Town Hall 8 Clan Castle has less space. Hence the best clan castle troops to fit in the 25 housing space to help defend in Clash of clans are: Town Hall 8 are higher under the attack of mass hog riders or drags among air troops. Hence having a combination of both air and ground troops is always the safest option.
Along with baby drag witches are effective as they spawn small skeletons alongside which can give heavy damage to ground troops. Valkyries are good ground troops that help kill enemy ground troops effectively.
The Clan Castle has a range of 12 tiles. Once an enemy troop gets inside this radius the donated troops will leave the Clan Castle and fight them, just as your Heroes. The troops killed defending your village are wasted, so after every defense on multiplayer you must request new troops.
Common attacks on TH 10 and 11 are Queen walk, mass bowler attack or electro drag attack. One needs to protect their town hall against these common attacks. The best clan castle troops to defend your base in Clash of Clans are listed below:
The clan castle in your war base is different from the clan castle in your village and must be filled separately. The troops donated to a war base will be used to defend it against all attacks during battle day. Unlike your regular village, there is no need to request troops for your war base.

Variety is important - Although it may be easier to donate the same set of troops to every Clan Castle, this makes it predictable for the enemy when they are planning their attacks. If they know what Clan Castle troops will emerge, they will be prepared. Keeping them on their toes can help give your clan the edge.
With 3 Ice Golems, the attacking troops will be held in place under fire from the defenses, which should result in a number of troops being taken out. x1. x1. x1.
1 Witch, 4 x Headhunters, 9 Goblins - As with this combination at TH12, this can be a strong counter for a Queen or Warden walk. The Goblins will be the first troops out of the Clan Castle, followed by the Headhunters and finally the Witch.
The Goblins will be the first troops out of the Clan Castle, followed by the Headhunters and finally the Witch. The Goblins can distract the Queen or Warden, allowing the Headhunters to poison them and can force early use of the ability or even take them out. x2. x2. x4.
1 x Lava Hound - A Lava Hound can be very effective at slowing down the enemy Archer Queen due to its high amount of hit points and the Lava Pups spawned can do a substantial amount of damage to her. Great for slowing down Queen Walks or the Archer Queen in a group of troops. x1. x1.
1 x Baby Dragon, 1 x Witch, 1 x Valkyrie - The Baby Dragon can be very effective at taking out groups of troops, the Witch spawning Skeletons can distract single target troops or the Barbarian King/Archer Queen and the Valkyrie can take out groups of low HP troops/Skeletons spawned by Witches. x1.
At Town Hall 10 and 11, a Queen Walk/Queen Charge can be a common start to an attack, so defending troops capable of slowing that part of the attack down can be effective. Groups of Bowlers and Witches can also be commonly seen, so splash damage troops (such as a Baby Dragon) are a good choice.
There are some circumstances in Clan War that require variations in order to have the best Troops in the War Castle: Lack of surprise – your enemy will know after 2-3 replays what’s inside your Clan Castle without having to make a first attack. Your enemy is better prepared for the attack in general (we don’t want that!)
A classic that works like a charm with the Dragon that will be the focus but the additional Archers can create trouble as well with a lot of distraction. No attacker likes to see those troops coming out of the Clan Castle. Can also be used with a Baby Dragon and more Archers. 9.
NEVER only have one single kind of troops in your Clan Castle! This will make it a lot easier to take them out, especially when the attacker is prepared. Prevent having many low-hitpoint troops like Archers, Minions etc. – most attackers carry a Poison Spell and wipe them out easily.
