Goodwill accepts donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. However, we are unable to provide home pick up service. Donations can be made at our stores and donation centers.

We do not accept large furniture. Couches, sofas, futons. Cribs, strollers, car seats, safety gates, etc. (Reason? Government safety recalls.)
Some of the items we can't accept are furniture, TVs and computer monitors. To be accepted, donations must weigh 50 pounds or less. Again, please review our unaccepted items list before transporting donations or scheduling a home pickup.
Your donation is generally for any person in their recipient list and most of them are truly in need of these things. So, when you are looking to give a donation, be certain that it can readily be beneficial to the person receiving it and will not cause any problem in their lives.
If you are certain you wish to channel your donation through goodwill, then you would do well to give the following steps a try so that you will be guided properly. Goodwill can often be quite strict on some matters pertaining to the donation of furniture.
The obstacles include lack of work history; physical , mental and emotional disabilities; limited education; language barriers; criminal background; dependency on public assistance; corporate downsizing and other challenges that stand in the way to employment.
Additionally, Goodwill provides job training and placement services for people with barriers to employment –such as veterans, people with disabilities and people with criminal backgrounds – as well as people looking to obtain new skills and credentials.
According to IRS regulations, a non-profit organization cannot provide a donor with the dollar value of an in-kind gift. There are many sources to locate reasonable values for your donations. One source is a free program from Intuit called “It’s Deductible”.
Yes. Goodwill of North Georgia is a 501 (3) (c) nonprofit organization. According to the IRS, donated goods (in good, used condition or better) made to us are tax-deductible. We will provide you with a receipt once you’ve made a donation to keep for your tax records. I dropped off items at a donation center.
Our stores take gently used items in good condition. Donations should be clean, safe and resaleable. Your donations to Goodwill are tax deductible. You can find all donation sites here. We are unable to do home pick-ups. To find a list of items we cannot accept, please scroll to the next section.
Goodwill employees may decline a donation if it is not in clean or in saleable condition or if they are unable to assist with larger items due to risk of injury. Our employees often help unload donations, however cannot help if (in their judgement) doing so may damage any vehicle, or if doing so is unsafe for them or anyone else.
