As the GoFundMe organizer, your name will appear on the account, and you cannot be anonymous. We have this policy in place to promote transparency between the organizer and supporters.
Keeping anonymity If you’re the beneficiary of the fundraiser, but want to stay anonymous to maintain your privacy, ignore the advice we normally give about putting the name of the beneficiary in the title of your fundraiser. Come up with a title that doesn’t include your name.
We see people use GoFundMe to raise money for themselves, friends and family, or even complete strangers in random acts of kindness. People raise money for just about everything, including medical expenses, education costs, volunteer programs, youth sports, funerals & memorials, and even animals & pets.
If privacy is a priority, make that clear to the sponsor, and give the fund a name that won’t be linked to you. Checks sent to charities can simply use this fund name or indicate that the grant is made at the suggestion of an anonymous donor. Your name is typically known to the organization that operates the fund.
While giving anonymously is less common than giving publicly, the rationale for it can be equally compelling. You believe it’s better for the cause. Giving still makes you feel good, but you believe the results you seek would be best achieved if the attention is focused on the cause—not the donor.
The first — and easiest — is to ask the charity receiving your donation to keep your name confidential. What results from your request is that, beyond the nonprofit’s need-to-know staff and board members, the public will never learn of your contribution.

To hide one of your donor’s names while on the app, just follow these steps: Select “My campaigns” at the bottom left and choose your fundraiser. Select the three dots next to the donation you’d like to make anonymous.
Occasionally donors will ask that their names be kept hidden from public view. If you receive any of these requests, you can help by hiding your donor’s name from your account.
Note: Only GoFundMe organizers can make a donor anonymous after the donation has already been made.
