When it comes to donating old clothes (and old everything else), most people turn to big-name thrift stores like Goodwill and The Salvation Army. This makes things easy: they’re one-stop shops for just about every kind of donation you can think of. However, they may not be the best choice for your used bras.
Since bras are needed by so many women who can’t afford them, there is a surprising amount of bra-specific donation options. Check these out:
Some bras end up in better condition than others and are perfect for donating. However, there are times when your old bras are only fit for recycling.
Since most donation centers don't actually accept worn bras — and often throw them in the trash — Harper Wilde's Recycle, Bra program takes old bras of any size or color, and breaks them down. The materials are then upcycled, or they're made into brand new fibers, to be used for clothes, rugs, cleaning textiles, or even building insulation. And, when you need a new one, they offer pieces that are entirely made of upcycled plastic bottles.
About 85 percent of textiles produced in the U.S. end up in landfills on an annual basis, and one of the more ubiquitous landfill finds happen to be bras.

Whether that means getting your new or lightly worn bra on someone who needs it or actually having the fibers turned into something else, recycling your bras is absolutely an option. The Bra Recyclers is a company we found online. (You can find out how to send in your own bras here .)

The delivery of the bra bank and collection of bras is a free service. To maintain this we ask our supporters to confirm that they can fill at least four bra bank liners for each collection. Each liner holds approximately 100 bras, so you would need to be able to collect at least 400 bras and be able to keep the bank on an on-going basis.
If you do not have enough bras for your own bra bank then we would be very happy to receive them by post.
