One of the most important things that you need to know about the types of furniture you can donate is that they must weigh 50 pounds or less. As much as you’d like to get rid of that old living room couch, we must adhere to weight limitations if we want to continue helping people through our charitable organizations like the Red Cross.
Not all donations are equal, unfortunately. If you’re planning to deliver a piece of furniture to us or have us pick it up from you, the piece must be in good condition. If there are scratches, dents, or other damage to the furniture, it won’t be much use to the people who will eventually receive it.
In addition to the furniture being in good condition, it also must not be too dirty. If you’re digging an old end table out of the attic for donation, give it a quick once-over before you send it our way. You may need to clean it up a little before you can donate it. We’ll gladly take it off your hands as long as it meets these conditions.
For a few ideas for what you can donate, this list includes some of the common items we get that meet our criteria for donation:
When you donate your-gently used items to one of the 7 Charlotte Region ReStores, you are changing lives by making affordable homeownership a reality for a family in your own community! Through the resale of your generous donations, we are able to help fund the construction and repair of homes with Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region.
Just have a few items to donate? Although some exceptions may apply, we are not able to accept donations of the following items:

Some restrictions/exceptions may apply for donations to the Charlotte Region ReStore. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept broken, stained, inoperable items, or items that violate health and safety regulations.
