Q. What sorts of bikes and bike parts, etc. can I donate to Bike Works?#N#A. Bicycles of any quality and in any condition, bicycle parts of any variety, bike frames, and bike accessories or gear of any type.
Looking for a way to help Bike Works? Does your child’s school, Girl or Boy Scout troop, or your faith community need a community service project? We are always looking for individuals or organizations to host a Bike Works Bike Drive. Just like a clothing or food drive, a Bike Drive collects used bikes for use in Bike Works programs.
So many people in the Bay Area ask us, "Where can I donate a bike near me?"
We accept bikes of all types and sizes, from tricycles up to full-sized bicycles for adults. Flat tires and broken or missing parts are no problem, as we have an extensive parts inventory. Our volunteer mechanics can fix almost anything; however, we don't restore paint and we can't reverse corrosion.
Our workshop is located at 3961 East Bayshore Road in Palo Alto. East Bayshore runs east of and parallels Highway 101 between San Antonio and Oregon Expressway. Please enter via Corporation Way. Go all the way around to the rear of the building and look for the roll-up door. DO NOT drop off any donations when the facility is closed.
Please contact us with a picture and any details about your bike donation. We'll likely take it and give you details of drop-off times. We do not typically do pick-ups, but for large collections or high-value items, we may.
The Bicycle Kitchen is a nonprofit bicycle repair education space run by volunteers known as Cooks. We keep our space open through donations from the people who use the space. We ask for suggested donations in exchange for using our workshop or picking out a Project Bike, but we never turn anyone away for lack of funds.

If your bike needs help or you would like to build a bike from our donated frames and parts, visit us during our hours of operation (pro tip: call first to make sure we’re open). We’ll provide the guidance, tools, and parts (supply willing) to help you build, repair, and maintain your bike.
We hold bike repair and maintenance workshops every now and then. We post our upcoming workshops on our website calendar, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Follow us on social media and check back on our website for information about future workshops.
Our six week Youth Build-a-Bike program teaches 12-18 year-olds how to build and maintain bicycles – and participants earn a bicycle and helmet.
Donate used bikes and parts to help members of the community have access to clean transportation, help preserve our planet, and help keep our doors open. If you’d like to donate bikes or parts, just drop them off when we’re open. Tax donation receipts available.
Drop by and speak to a Cook about becoming a volunteer. Start by shadowing a Cook, sorting parts, patching tubes, or wrenching on donated bikes. Wrenching is not the only way to help! Our volunteers also screen print shirts, design flyers, plan social events, weld + much more!
