From there, you’ll narrow down your IRS-qualified 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. Such charities even accept salvage as donations, meaning chunks of wood, nails, and wires.

Jun 07, 2011 · Locally, there’ll be solutions for your area that you’ll have to research yourself, but, throughout North America, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore is a building supplies depot where one can donate used building supplies of all kinds, and proceeds go to building Habitat homes on a local level — or, products can even get used by Habitat in a sparkly new local build.
Habitat ReStore staff and volunteers make the donation process as simple as possible. You can always donate goods in person, and many Habitat ReStores offer free pickup of large items. Here’s how the process works.
Habitat ReStore accepts new and gently used appliances, furniture, building materials, household goods and more from individuals and companies. Each ReStore is unique, and many locations also accept items outside these categories.
The money raised by Habitat ReStores helps families build a decent and affordable place to call home. When the items you donate to ReStore are sold, the money helps families achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better future.
Remodeling, cleaning, down-sizing or just getting organized? Whatever your project, don’t let the items you no longer need end up in your local landfill.
Our corporate partnerships help make our work at Habitat possible, and we offer partnership opportunities for corporations wishing to donate overstock materials and participate in recurring donation programs. A place like ReStore, with everything from factory cast-offs and large-job leftovers right down to good-condition period pieces, can offer supplies solutions for lots of projects.
These shops survive on the products they acquire from home demos, leftovers from construction sites, discontinued products, “factory seconds,” home renovation “refuse,” and general donations.
Junk is junk. So if that pipe you’re removing has a leaky fit, they don’t want it either. If your wood-frame doors and windows function great but ain’t pretty, that’s not a problem — most customers plan to refinish it to match their product. They make wood-filler for a reason. Wear and tear doesn’t affect usage value if paint will cover it.

Tax receipt – Your donation is tax-deductible. You determine the value of your donation to our non-profit organization.
While we want to keep as much as we can out of the landfill, some items cannot be recycled. If you have a donation that we can’t accept, check out this list of recycling resources in Whatcom County for information on other organizations that may take your items.

Our deconstruction services are an environmentally sound alternative to conventional demolition. Deconstruction is the process of carefully and systematically disassembling and removing previously constructed items with the intent to reuse them elsewhere. The deconstruction team carefully dismantles everything from kitchen and bathroom cabinets to countertops, plumbing fixtures, and lighting.
