Thrift shops are a great place to get temporary or permanent items if you’ve just moved, or if you’re replacing items lost in a fire or natural disaster.

Before you visit

Our thrift shops are located on bases but are separate from our Society offices. Not all Society offices have a thrift shop. Find your nearest Society thrift shop.#N#You need a military ID card to shop in our thrift stores.

Donating items

Donated merchandise helps us offer low-cost, quality items. Generally, donated items can be accepted during regular thrift shop business hours; however, check with your local Society thrift shop to find out if they have a donation drop-box. If they don’t, you may only donate items during regular shop hours.

Due to the varying base guidance and volunteer availability during COVID-19, please contact your local Thrift Shop for current hours and patron eligibility.

Books and Periodicals. Some. We are no longer accepting Blue Jackets manuals, Time Life Books or the Navy pictorial booklet or Life. We do not accept ETO versions of Time, Stars & Stripes, but we are looking for other specific issues. Please send a list of the titles you wish to donate.

EXCEPTIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS

Items accompanied by a World War II-era photograph of the person who collected the item, a personal account of any length and/or copies of available service documents are more likely to influence an item’s acceptance; however, every offer is judged on an individual basis. We are always looking for artifacts with a good story.
