The fund is reducing the social and economic barriers to health equity by investing in local social entrepreneurs and small businesses and organizations in under-resourced communities. Generous donors who funded this important work this past year include the Walmart Foundation, Kaiser Permanente and Jeff Bezos.

New this year, we are launching Jump Rope for Heart in January 2021, instead of in September of 2020. This allows us to build a program that better supports your school and your needs. This means you will be able to run your event any time between January and June 2021.
It’s important for all of us to be active and practice other healthy habits to take care of ourselves and each other. Students can learn fun ways to get active for heart health while raising awareness and support for Heart & Stroke. Take a leap and be part of the movement!
Schools should follow the guidelines of their provincial or territorial government, local public health authorities and their school board for a safe event. Ideas for activities that include social distancing will be provided to schools to help ensure safety. Teachers can also host the Event Day virtually.
Jump Rope for Heart is not just about skipping. We encourage everyone to get moving any way that they can during their event. You can dance, play hopscotch, run, get out your hula hoop, or do anything else you can to move your body. Our family has lived experience with heart disease and/or stroke.
The Heart Foundation’s ready-made skipping program helps primary school students move more and have fun, while they raise funds for heart research, patient support and programs that help save lives.
Skipping: the perfect exercise for young hearts. To be happy and healthy, children need 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day. Join Jump Rope for Heart to see more skipping skills videos. Join Jump Rope.
“Iris and I could not be more proud of Abi! We always knew she was a little champion, but to be putting in this much effort and raising so much money for the Heart Foundation in her first year at school is fantastic. Iris has also been working hard behind the scenes to support Abi’s skipping and fundraising efforts. It means a lot to our family, especially my mum.”
They’ve been so enthusiastic at learning new tricks, working together and, of course, getting fit at the same time. Jump Rope for Heart is such a great way to engage kids in exercise and keeping fit! Love it.”
